Dubrovnik (which in Serbo-Croatian means ‘little forest’) is a city of 43,770 inhabitants in Dalmatia, Croatia. For centuries it was, after Venice, the most important Venetian port on the Adriatic.<\/p>\n

What to see in Dubrovnik<\/strong><\/p>\n

Exploring traditionally begins with a wander through the Old Town. Lose yourself in its countless narrow alleys, which run at right angles off the main paved street the locals call Stradun (or Placa). The Old Town has everything except cars: the oldest pharmacy in Europe, grand cathedrals, picturesque caf\u00e9s and restaurants, and little shops for browsing and souvenirs \u2014 all with a Balkan, Ottoman, Venetian and Austrian air. Of course you won’t miss a walk along the high city walls, up to 40 m tall and 2 km long, where the magical view over the Adriatic and all of Dubrovnik will leave you speechless. And if you think you’ve had your fill of the views the city so generously offers, just wait until sunset, when \u2014 perched on Kri\u017e hill \u2014 you can gaze down over Dubrovnik dressed in the enchanting colours of dusk.<\/p>\n
